Newsoms – Mariah Lynn Blei, 12, passed away unexpectedly on February 28, 2025. She was very athletic and enjoyed competitive swimming starting at age 6 and was a member of the Bayside Marlins Swim Team at the Bayside Recreation Center. She began dance in 2021 at the Contemporary School of Dance in Courtland doing tap, jazz, ballet, and pointe. Mariah played soccer for three years at Camp 25 and the Franklin YMCA. She enjoyed karate at the recreation center and loved her animals including her goat OBI, her best friend Kitty Boots, and her dogs Bodie, Mila, and Ginger. She also enjoyed riding on the back of her father’s motorcycle and enjoyed her spa days with her cousins doing hair and nails. Mariah loved cooking, painting, karaoke with friends, trips to Starbucks, and driving her golf cart around Newsoms.
She was a member of the National Honors Society and a member of Newsoms Baptist Church where she was in the Youth Group.
Left to cherish her memory are her parents Thomas Andrew Blei and Melissa Lynn Napier Blei; a sister, Courtney Richmond; a brother, Tommy Blei, Jr.; maternal grandfather, Fred Napier; aunts and uncles, Uncle Justin Napier (Jennifer), Tyler “Uncle Ty Ty”, Richmond (Erica), Uncle Mike Blei (Sue), Aunt Kit Balance, Aunt Sue Blei, Aunt Buttons (Mike), Aunt Jacquie (Ritch), Uncle Terry Napier (Angie), and Uncle Tim Napier (Sherri); cousins, Gabby, Lily, Wyatt, Jaxson, Skylar, Kristopher, Harrison, Isobel, Bryce, JoAnn, Joseph, Ryan, Shelby, Chelsea, Connor, Merritt, Jordan, and Ethan; and a host of second cousins.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30AM Saturday, March 15, 2025 in Newsoms Baptist Church with Rev. Tom Wallace officiating. Burial will follow in Hollywood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8PM Friday, March 14 in Wright Funeral Home, Franklin and suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the Mariah Blei Dance Scholarship Fund, c/o Carol Fox, P. O. Box 53, Capron, VA 23829.
